New Hyde Park, NY:   The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran its fourth Sport Shot Series event at Herrill Lanes. Bill Verni, W. Babylon, NY won the $1,000 top prize by defeating 2^nd place finisher Rich Palumbo, Levittown, NY 229-228 who earned $500. This was Bill’s 4^th LIGBT title since becoming a member 12 years ago. Finishing in third place was Damian Rodriquez, Freeport, NY with a 207 worth $300. Rounding out the top 5 was Ed Passaro, Hicksville, NY in 4^th place with a 192 worth $250 and William Luna, Corona, NY in 5^th with a 170 worth $235.

Bill’s title run started in the noon squad as he earned the bye as squad leader (706) putting him directly into the shootout. The 5-person shootout was a very competitive contest with all 5 bowlers within a few pins going into the final 3 frames. Bill tripled in frames 7-9 forcing Rich to strike out to claim the title. Rich threw the first strike in the 10^th but missed on his second shot giving Bill the title.

The LIGBT 2-squad sport shot tournament drew 66 entries, paid out $3,450 in prize money, and had 17 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action awarded an additional $3,185 bringing the total event payout to $6,635.  

Scores to cash on the 45 foot “Route 66” pattern were 682 at noon and 709 at 2pm. The wildcard winner, which is the highest 6-game series by a non-finalist, was Anthony Fusco, W. Hempstead, NY with a 1,405. High series of the tournament was shot by Matt Schultz, New Hyde Park, NY with a 763.

Meadow, NY: The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran its 4^th event of its 12 tournament House Shot Series at AMF E. Meadow. The handicap champion was Alex Padmore, Jamaica, NY earning $1,000. This was Alex’s 4^th LIGBT title and first since 2015! The scratch winner was Justin Kampf, Levittown, NY earning $500. Justin is also a multi-title holder.

In the final handicap shootout, where the top two from both age divisions combined for a 1-game shootout, it was a back-and-forth match between 2 out of the 4 finalists; Romie Caiaccio, Wantagh, NY and Alex. Alex qualified from the senior division with 1201 five-game series. Romie qualified for the shootout from the 49 & under division with a 1246 series.

The champion started out strong with 4 strikes in a row but followed that with 4 consecutive opens. Romie, who was getting the most handicap in the shootout, took a short lead in the 6^th frame, lost it in the 7^th frame, got it back in the 8^th frame and lost it for good with an open in the 9^th frame. Both bowlers marked in the 10^th giving Alex a 6-pin victory 238-232. Finishing in 3^rd place, earning $300 was Jason Epps, Jamaica, NY with a 195. Rounding out the top 4 was Jay Cureton, Richmond Hill, NY with a 151 worth $250.   

The scratch event was won by Justin Kampf with a 5-game total of 1218 (243 average.) Justin earned $500 for his scratch victory. Finishing in 2^nd place was Guy Sereno, Massapequa, NY with an 1191 worth $250. Rounding out the top 3, and earning $150, was Quan Jacob, Bronx, NY with an 1155 series. A total of 5 bowlers cashed in the scratch prize list which paid out $1,140.

LIGBT’s House Shot Series Event #4 at AMF E. Meadow drew a field of 78 entries, paid out $4,685 in prize money, and had 20 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $3,900 bringing the total day’s payout to $8,585. Scores to cash on the Wall Street pattern were 1168 in the 49 & under handicap division, 1144 in the senior handicap division, and 1107 in the scratch event. The winner of the Storm ball raffle was Al Johnson, Jamaica, NY.

New Hyde Park, NY:   The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran its annual 2-day Thanksgiving Major which was won by David Cincotta, N. Babylon, NY. David won the $1,500 top prize by defeating Tom Catalano, N. Babylon, NY 253-248 in the final shootout. While Tom earned $900 for 2^nd place, finishing in third, with a 227 worth $600, was Ken Bruce, Oceanside, NY. Rounding out the top 4 was Jae Yi, Flushing, NY with a 223 earning him $500.

The final shootout was exciting as the champion not decided until the final frame. None of the 4 bowlers took command early but by the end they all loosened up and started striking. Tom, who was giving everyone handicap, was the only bowler without an open frame. David tripled in frames 7-9 to grab the lead. Tom, who struck out from the 8^th frame on, forced David to mark in the 10^th to secure his victory. David calmly converted a 1-pin spare to claim his 2^nd LIGBT singles title. 

The LIGBT Thanksgiving Major was a success with 157 entries generating a $7,880 prize fund. A total of 42 bowlers went to the cashing window. The side action awarded an additional $7,885 bringing the total event payout to $15,765.

Scores to cash on the 40 foot “Sunset Strip” pattern ranged from 661-687. The 4 squad leaders, each earning byes were: Alex Padmore (721), Curtis Hetmeyer (710), Matt Schultz (832), and Ralph Devarti (723.) The wildcard winners were: Andre McDuffie (1299), Dexter Sapp (1292), and Ken Bruce (1373.)

Wantagh, NY: The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran a Doubles Tournament at AMF Wantagh and crowned 2 first time champions. The winning doubles team, with a 4-game total of 2,053 worth $1,600, was Nick Falsetta, N. Babylon, NY and Anthony Barker, W. Babylon, NY. Finishing in 2^nd place with a 1,981 total, and earning $900, were partners Leon C. Kessee, Hempstead, NY and Jordan Ockimey, Amityville, NY. Rounding out the top 3 was the doubles team of Connor and Ken Milton, Bayshore, NY with a 1914 series worth $650.

The AMF Wantagh doubles event attracted 48 teams and paid out a prize fund of $4,800. Eight teams cashed, for a minimum of $200, with 1,877 the cashing score. The side action paid out an additional $2,075. Total payout for the day was $6,875.

The LIGBT welcomed 10 new members at AMF Wantagh. The winner of the Storm ball raffle was Lori Cummings. Timmy Smith Jr. shot the high scratch game of the event with a 299.

The LIGBT’s next event is our annual Thanksgiving Major. This 2-day event is being hosted by Herrill Lanes and will run Saturday and Sunday, November 26 & 27 (squads at noon & 2pm.) The LIGBT is sponsored by Storm, Randi B. Siegel Law Offices, Billvee Electric, CLS Custom Upholsterers and Turbo 2-n-1 Grips.

E. Meadow, NY: The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran its 3^rd event of its 12 tournament House Shot Series at AMF E. Meadow. The handicap champion was Steven Kelly, Islip, NY earning $1,000. This was Steve’s 3^rd LIGBT title and first since 2017! The scratch winner was Tom Catalano, N. Babylon, NY earning $370. Tom visited the cashing window multiple times earning a total of $860 not including bracket winnings.

In the final handicap shootout, where the top two from both age divisions combined for a 1-game shootout, it came down to the last frame between Steve Kelly and Mitch Benov, Seaford, NY. Mitch had a 2-pin lead going into the 10^th but Steve had a strike in the 9^th frame to control his destiny. Mitch struck first but Steve followed with a doubled sealing his victory. The final score was 242-236 with Mitch earning $500 for 2^nd. Finishing in third, with a 195, was Tom Catalano earning $300. Rounding out the top 4 was Ray Brooks, S. Ozone Park, NY with a 158 worth $250.  

The scratch event, which paid out a prize fund based on the best 4 out of 5 games, was won by Tom Catalano with a 4-game total of 1052 (263 average.) Tom earned $370 for his scratch victory. Finishing in 2^nd place was Charles Ko, Palisades, NJ with a 1016 worth $200. Rounding out the top 3, and earning $150, was Guy Sereno, W. Hempstead, NY with a 974 series. A total of 3 bowlers cashed in the scratch prize list which paid out $720.

LIGBT’s House Shot Series Event #3 at AMF E. Meadow drew a field of 74 entries, paid out $4,455 in prize money, and had 18 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $2,720 bringing the total day’s payout to $7,175. Scores to cash on the High Street pattern were 988 in the 49 & under handicap division, 944 in the senior handicap division, and 974 in the scratch event. The winner of the Storm ball raffle was Mark Ferrara, Farmingdale, NY.

New Hyde Park, NY:   The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran its second Sport Shot Series event at Herrill Lanes. Jennifer Bochicchio, Selden, NY won the $1,000 top prize by defeating 2^nd place finisher Glenn Swirson, Syosset, NY 225-206 earning $500. This was Jenn’s first title since joining the LIGBT 7 years ago! Finishing in third place was Jenn’s beau, Bill Verni, W. Babylon, NY with a 188 worth $300. Rounding out the top 4 was Nick Vacarro, Floral Park, NY with a 159 worth $275.

Jenn’s road to her first title started in the noon squad where she qualified with a 694. In the finals Jenn shot 220 in Round 1 to advance and 221 in Round 2 to get to the shootout. Jenn was getting the most handicap in the shootout and grabbed the early lead with 5 straight marks. But when she opened her next 3 out of 4 frames Glenn was back in the match. Jenn quickly halted Glenn’s title hopes by doubling in the final frame to lock up the title.

The LIGBT 2-squad sport shot tournament drew a nice Halloween weekend crowd of 82 entries, paid out $4,315 in prize money, and had 21 bowlers go to the cashing window. All finalists earned $150 and Round 2 advancers earned $250. The side action awarded an additional $2,620 bringing the total event payout to $6,935.

Scores to cash on the 42 foot “Autobahn” pattern were 664 at noon and 669 at 2pm. The wildcard winner, which is the highest 6-game series by a non-finalist, was Tyger Folmar, with a 1,379. High series of the tournament was shot by Lenny Tortorici with a 795 at 2pm.

Elmont, NY: The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran a Quad team tournament at a first-time host; Dani’s Strike Zone. The winning team, with a 4-game total of 3,611 worth $2,000, was Maniram Basdeo, Bronx, NY, Darcy Monroe, E. Meadow, NY, Alex Padmore, Jamaica, NY, and Chris Thomas, Brooklyn, NY. All 4 bowlers are LIGBT seasoned veterans with many titles.

The energy inside Dani’s Strike Zone was tremendous the entire day. Finishing in 2^nd place with a 3,596 total, and earning $1,400, was the team of Andrew Mienkiewicz, Dix Hills, NY, Phil Rivera, Franklin Square, NY, Glenn Swirson, Syosset, NY and Dexter Sapp, Valley Stream, NY. Rounding out the top 3 was the team of Brian Becktold, Glen Cove, NY, Brandon Butler, Jamaica, NY, Jessica Del Valle, Bronx, NY and Dennis Knox, Brooklyn, NY. The third-place finishers shot a 3,594 and earned $800.

The singles champion was Danny Yi, Englewood, NJ with a 1024 series worth $400. Finishing in second place was Dexter Sapp with a 999 worth $300. Rounding out the top 3 in singles was Jessica Del Valle with a 983 worth $200. A total of 6 bowlers cashed in the $1,150 singles prize list. The cashing score was 946.

LIGBT’s first trip to Dani’ Strike Zone was successful. A total of 15 teams competed for a $4,200 prize fund. With the singles event prize fund, a total of $5,350 was paid out. The side action was strong and paid an additional $3,595 bringing the day’s total payout to $8,945. Jessica Del Valle won the Storm ball raffle.

Meadow, NY: The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran its 2^nd event of its 12 tournament House Shot Series at AMF E. Meadow. Darius Fuller, Bay Shore, NY won both the scratch and handicap events earning a total of $1,500 and his first, of what should be many, LIGBT titles. At 21 years old, Darius is one of the youngest champions in LIGBT history!

In the final handicap shootout, where the top two from the 49 and under and senior divisions combine to bowl a 1-game match, Darius defeated 2^nd place finisher Billy Oh, Plainview, NY 220-207 to earn the $1,000 top prize. While Billy earned $500 as the runner-up, finishing in third place was Phil Rivera, Franklin Square, NY with a 205 worth $300. Rounding out the top 4 was Dave Brunson, Seaford, NY with a 202 earning him $250. All 4 shootout participants were looking for their first LIGBT singles title.

The scratch event, which paid out a prize fund based on the 5-game series, was won by Darius Fuller with a 5-game total of 1137 (227 average.) Darius earned $500 for his scratch victory. Finishing in 2^nd place was senior bowler Jose Perez, E. Elmhurst, NY with an 1110 worth $250. Rounding out the top 3, and earning $150, was Darcy Monroe, E. Meadow NY with an 1102 series. A total of 5 bowlers cashed in the scratch prize list which paid out $1,140.
