Deer Park, NY: The LIGBT visited Strike 10 Deer Park for its third House Shot Spectacular and crowned a new champion; Xavier Martin, Brentwood, NY. Xavier won his first LIGBT title, and the $1,500 top prize, by defeating Pierce Field, Shirley, NY 297-256 in an incredible performance. While Pierce earned $750 for 2nd place, there was a tie for 3rd and 4th place with Joe Scianna, Long Island, NY and Silk Nixon, Bronx, NY both shooting 213 and each earning $450. Rounding out the top 5 was Dominick Steed, Farmingdale, NY with a 198 worth $300.
The final shootout quickly became a 2-person race between Xavier and Pierce. Xavier started with a spare and then threw the next 9 strikes. Pierce stayed close also striking almost every frame but a split in his 7th frame crushed his title hopes. Joe and Silk were close all 10 frames and finished in a tie when Joe threw a strike in his final ball of the 10th frame. Dominick bowled well but couldn’t string strikes and had too many splits.
The LIGBT House Shot Spectacular drew 128 entries generating a 33-person prize list totaling $7,060. The side action awarded an additional $2,010 bringing the total event payout to $9,070. Donna Ryan and Shawn Cummings were the 2 bowling ball winners donated by Mike D’Ambrosio of Coach’s Corner pro shop.
