Garden City, NY: The LIGBT ran House Shot Series #11 at AMF Garden City on Sunday and crowned 2 champions.  Samantha Galardi, Islip, NY, won her 1st title and took home the $1,000 top prize in the handicap event. Ed Ziemak, Thiells, NY, also earned a $1,000 by winning the scratch event ($600) and finishing 3rd in the handicap event ($400.)

The handicap shootout was dominated by Samantha as she struck in 6 of her first 8 frames finishing with a 295 for a 43-pin victory. Romeo bowled great and shot a 256 but an open in his fifth frame hurt his title chances. Ed, who was bowling scratch, tried to keep up with Samantha but 3 stubborn 9 counts stopped a potential long string of strikes as he finished with a 224.  Ian also bowled well but had 3 open frames which forced him to settle for a 4th place finish with a 210.

Ed won the scratch event by shooting a 4-game total of 1081, giving him a 270 average for the day, and earning $600. Finishing in 2nd place was Terrence Taylor, Flushing, NY with a 966 worth $300. Rounding out the top 3 in scratch was Cameron Potts, Babylon, NY with a 943 earning him $200. The scratch event drew 28 entries and paid out a 7-person prize list totaling $1,620.

LIGBT’s House Shot Series #11 drew an amazing field of 127 entries, paid out $7,610 in prize money, and had 33 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $4,830 bringing the day’s payout to $12,440. KEVIN MILLER’S 8 YEAR WAIT IS OVER! WINS SPORT SHOT SERIES #12

Posted On: August 05, 2024

Meadow, NY: The LIGBT visited AMF E. Meadow and ran the 12th and final Sport Shot Series event of Season 17. Kevin Miller, New York, NY won his 2nd LIGBT title, and first one in 8 years, by defeating Pak Wong, New York, NY 222-214. Kevin earned the $1,000 top prize while Pak earned $700 for second place. Finishing in third was Mack Oakman, Melville, NY shooting a 212 worth $500. Rounding out the top 5 was 4th place finisher Utrice Coleman, Deer Park, NY with a 210 worth $350 and 5th place finisher Frank Lunghi, Farmingdale, NY with a 194 worth $300.

The final shootout was competed on the very tough PBA Chameleon pattern. All 5 bowlers struggled to fill frames which kept the match close. In fact, all 5 bowlers had at least 3 open frames and no one had a double until Mack threw 2 strikes in the 10th frame. Kevin earned the title, even with an open in the final frame, since his closest competitors also opened in the 10th. It was definitely survival of the fittest!

The LIGBT 2-squad sport shot tournament drew a great crowd of 139 entries, paid out $6,830 in prize money, and had 36 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action awarded an additional $6,580 bringing the total event payout to $13,410.

Scores to cash on the 39-foot PBA Chameleon pattern were 649 at 1pm and 641 at 3pm. The wildcard winner was Jose Perez, E. Elmhurst, NY with a 1,320 six-game series. High series of the day was shot by 3rd place finisher Mack Oakman with a 724 series in the 1pm squad. Utrice Coleman was the only woman to advance to the finals but 3 other women cashed.
