ERIC KWON & SIMON CHUN WIN ULTIMATE DOUBLES AT GARDEN CITY

Garden City, NY: The LIGBT ran its first doubles tournament of the new year at AMF Garden City. After 4-games of qualifying, Erik Kwon and Simon Chun, both from Flushing, NY, stood holding the $2,000 winner’s check. Erik and Simon finished with a 2,025 four-game total earning both their first LIGBT titles.

Finishing in 2nd place, just 8 pins behind, was the team of Michael & Stacey Pflug, from W. Babylon, NY shooting a 2,017 worth $1,000. In third place was the team of Valerie DeLillo, N. Massapequa, NY and Joe Angelone, Massapequa, NY with a 1,995 series worth $800. Rounding out the top 4 was the team of William Tudy, Brooklyn, NY and David Raiford, Long Island City, NY with a 1,969 total worth $600.

The doubles event drew a wonderful field of 94 teams with 16 teams cashing in the $7,900 prize fund. The side action paid out an additional $5,895 bringing the total day’s payout to $13,955 The LIGBT welcomed 13 new members at AMF Garden City. The cut score to cash on the house shot pattern was 1,898.

The LIGBT’s next event is Sport Shot Series #4 at AMF E. Meadow on Sunday, February 4th (1pm & 3pm.) The LIGBT is sponsored by Randi B. Siegel Law Offices and Turbo Grips with all final shootouts streamed on WON Television Network.

ROMIE CAIACCIO WINS HANDICAP TITLE ALEX CRUZ TAKES SCRATCH TITLE

Wantagh, NY: The LIGBT ran its House Shot Series #4 at AMF Wantagh on Sunday and crowned 2 great champions. The handicap champion, earning her second title, was Romie Caiaccio, Wantagh, NY and the scratch champion, winning his first title, was Alex Cruz, Hicksville, NY.  

Romie earned the $1,000 top prize in an amazing handicap shootout where the top 3 were separated by just 2 pins! Romie shot a 242 which was one pin better than 2nd place finisher; 79-year-old Angel Villavicencio, Whitestone, NY. Angel’s 241 earned him $500. Finishing in third place with a 240 was Ken Kramer, Ronkonkoma, NY earning $300. This was Ken’s first LIGBT final shootout appearance. Rounding out the top 4 in the handicap shootout was William Tudy, Brooklyn, NY with a 198 worth $250

The scratch event was won by Alex Cruz with a 4-game total of 922 worth $500. Finishing in 2nd place, just 4 pins behind with a 918, was Adam Chase, N. Babylon, NY earning $300. Rounding out the top 3 in the scratch event was Rich Glinnen, Bayside, NY with a 914 earning him $200. The scratch event drew 23 entries and paid out a 6-person prize list totaling $1,360.  

LIGBT’s House Shot Series Event #4 drew a nice field of 85 entries, paid out $5,070 in prize money, and had 22 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $2,040 bringing the total day’s payout to $7,110. Scores to cash were 908 in the 49 & under handicap division, 884 in the senior handicap division, and 888 in the scratch event.

JOE CERUZZI SWEEPS BOTH SCRATCH & HANDICAP AT NEW YEAR’S DAY SPECTACULAR

Meadow, NY: The LIGBT kicked off 2024 with a special 4-game house shot event. Joe Ceruzzi, Rye Brook, NY, dominated both events and earned over $1,850 in prize money. Joe won the handicap tournament by defeating Carrie Tudy, Jamaica, NY 255-232 in the final shootout. Joe earned $1,000 while Carrie took home $500. Joe also won the scratch event with a 4-game total of 1051 (262 average) worth $600. Our champion also won 2 pots adding another $250 to his winnings for a total of $1,850.

The handicap event finished with a 4-person shootout. Joe was getting no handicap and started the match 40 pins behind Carrie. But when Joe threw six strikes in a row starting in the 2nd frame, the handicap difference became irrelevant, and Joe went on to a comfortable 23-pin victory. Finishing in third with a 226 was Don Pendleton, Staten Island, NY with a 226 worth $300. Rounding out the top 4 was Ron Hatchett, New York, NY with a 210 worth $250.

The handicap entry fee included 8 additional high game pot prizes. Earning $150 for the high handicap game were Quan Jacob (299), Joe Ceruzzi (289) and Ron Hatchett (300.) Stephanie Pidala won the 4th game pot with a 276 worth an amazing $500! Second place pot winners ($100 each) were Brian Beal (287), Jadon Pineda (289), and Kelvin Leung (284.) Larry Berry earned $250 as the 2nd place winner of the 4th game pot with a 272. 

Joe’s 1051 scratch series gave him an incredible 70-pin victory in the scratch event. Finishing in 2nd place was Quan Jacob, Bronx, NY with a 981 worth $300. Rounding out the top 3 was Rich Palumbo, Levittown, NY with a 961 worth $220. The scratch event attracted 39 entries and paid out $1,820 to 8 different cashers. An additional four $100 high-game pots were paid out to Quan Jacob (299), Joe Ceruzzi (289), Ron Hatchett (300), and Nas Freeman (279.)   

LIGBT’s NYD Spectacular drew a wonderful field of 122 entries, paid out $7,365 in prize money, and had 36 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $4,190 bringing the total day’s payout to $11,555. Scores to cash were 943 in the 49 & under handicap division, 930 in the senior handicap division, and 940 in the scratch event.

The LIGBT ran a special raffle and gave out over $700 in gifts. Winners of a Brunswick ball were Scott Teitler and Carrie Tudy. Winners of a Turbo Triple tote were Don Pendleton and Ron Hatchett.
