Garden City, NY: The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran its annual Super Bowl Marathon at AMF Garden City featuring 3 different events. Scott Teitler, Patchogue, NY and Mark Ferrara, Farmingdale, NY tied for first place with a 1083 in the upper average handicap event. Each won $460 for their co-title. In the lower average handicap event Denis Mendelson, Levittown, NY won $600 by finishing with the top 4-game total; 1062. Joe LaBargo was the scratch champion with a 932 worth $250.
While Scott and Mark shared the upper average handicap title, finishing in third place, with a 1044 series, was Jaleesa Taylor, Flushing, NY earning $200. A total of 27 bowlers competed in this division which paid out $1,605 to 7 different cashers. It took a 1007 series to cash in the upper average handicap event.
Denis Mendelson’s win in the lower average handicap event was his second consecutive title. Finishing 21 pins behind, with a 1041, was Joe Ferraiolo, W. Islip, NY earning $315. Rounding out the top 3 was Alex Padmore, Jamaica, NY with a 1035 worth $200. A total of 27 bowlers competed in this division which paid out $1,595 to 7 different cashers. It took a 1006 series to cash in the lower average handicap event.
Joe LaBargo averaged a fine 233 to earn the scratch title. Finishing in second place, with a 914 was Timothy Smith Jr., W. Islip, NY earning $170 in scholarship money. The scratch event attracted 7 entries and paid out a $420 prize fund to 2 different cashers. It took a 914 series to cash in the scratch tournament.
The LIGBT Super Bowl Marathon drew a field of 61 entries, paid out $3,620 in prize money, and had 16 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $3,380 bringing the total event payout to $7,000.
