E. Meadow, NY: The LIGBT, sponsored by Storm, ran a 3-event house shot Mini-Marathon at AMF E. Meadow and crowned three great champions. The winner of the lower average handicap event was Joe Ferraiolo, W. Islip, NY. The winner of the upper average handicap event was Max Thomas, Babylon, NY. The 3rd champion was the scratch winner Brian Becktold, Glen Cove, NY. Each event featured 4-games with total wood determining the final position
Joe Ferraiolo won the lower average handicap event with a 4-game total of 1112, worth $750. Finishing just 3 pins behind, with an 1109 series, was Sang Hyub Oh, Fresh Meadows, NY earning $400. A total of 37 bowlers competed in this division which paid out a prize fund of $2,310 to 10 different cashers. It took a 988 series to cash in the lower average handicap event.
Max Thomas won the upper average handicap event with a 4-game total of 1065, worth $750. Finishing in second place, with a 1037 series, was Darryl McDuffie, Floral Park, NY earning $400. A total of 36 bowlers competed in this division which paid out $2,310 to 9 different cashers. It took a 988 series to cash in the upper average handicap event.
Brian Becktold won the scratch event with a 978 series (244 average) worth $550. Finishing in 2nd place, just 9 pins behind Brian, was Max Thomas with a 969 series worth $300. Rounding out the top 3, with a 964, was Nick DeFazio, W. Islip, NY with a 964 worth $250. The scratch event attracted 30 entries and paid out a $1,820 prize fund to 8 different cashers. It took an 898 series to cash in the scratch tournament.
The LIGBT Mini-Marathon at AMF E. Meadow drew a record September crowd of 103 entries, paid out $6,440 in prize money, and had 25 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $5,880 bringing the total event payout to $12,320.
