Babylon, NY: The LIGBT visited AMF Babylon and ran its 10th sport shot series event of Season 16. Guy Sereno, Massapequa, NY was the wildcard winner (top 6 game series by a non-finalist) and was added to the finals. Guy took full advantage of his finals pass by defeating Jedd Ocampo, East Meadow, NY 256-245 in the final shootout. Guy earned $1,000 while Jedd earned $700 for second place. Finishing in third was Darryl Freeman, Forest Hills, NY shooting a 223 worth $500. Rounding out the top 4 was Phil Rivera, Franklin Square, NY with a 207 worth $300.
The final shootout was really a 2-person battle between Guy and Jedd. Guy needed a double in the 10th frame to win the title and he threw 2 perfect shots. Jedd threw the only clean game in the shootout but Guy threw 9 strikes while Jedd threw just 4. Phil and Darryl each threw just one strike and competed for the last 2 spots in the shootout.
The LIGBT 2-squad sport shot tournament drew a great crowd of 120 entries, paid out $5,910 in prize money, and had 31 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action awarded an additional $3,825 bringing the total event payout to $9,735.
Scores to cash on the 45 foot “Route 66” pattern were 693 at 1pm and 691 at 3pm. The wildcard winner was champion Guy Sereno with a 1,402 six-game series. High series of the day was shot by Jacob Scotch, Massapequa, NY with an 824 in the 1pm squad. Two women advanced to the finals; Stephanie Pidala, Maspeth, NY (728 at 1pm) and Nancy Villavicencio, Whitestone, NY (744 at 3pm.)
