Garden City, NY: The LIGBT visited AMF Garden City and ran a special Friday night drop-your-low-game sport shot event. Glen Buchanan, New York, NY won his 1st LIGBT title, after joining the LIGBT 7 years ago, by defeating Stephanie Pidala, Maspeth, NY 257-243. Glenn earned $1,000 while Stephanie took home $550 for second place. Finishing in third was Juan Torres, Brooklyn, NY shooting a 232 and earning $300. Rounding out the top 4 was 4th place finisher Devon Johnson, Brooklyn, NY with a 210 worth $250.

The shootout was a great match as all 4 bowlers had a shot at the title going into the last 2 frames. Stephanie was the early leader marking in her first 4 frames. Glenn jumped into the lead by the 8th frame with 4 strikes in row. But when Glenn opened in the 9th frame everyone had a title shot. Amazingly, no one could take advantage of Glenn’s open as the other 3 competitors also opened in the 9th frame.

Glenn headed into the final frame needing a mark to win. When he converted a 3-pin spare his long-awaited title drought was over. Juan bowled well but couldn’t find a consistent strike line and settled for third place. Devon, who was giving everyone handicap, opened his last 3 out of 4 frames and finished 4th.

The LIGBT 1 squad sport shot tournament drew 58 entries, paid out $3,660 in prize money, and had 15 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action awarded an additional $2,430 bringing the total event payout to $6,090. Scores to cash on the 40 foot “Sunset” pattern were 722 in the senior division and 724 in the 49 & under division.

LIGBT’s next tournament is Sport Shot Series #9 on Sunday, May 19th (1pm & 3pm) and will be hosted by AMF E. Meadow. To view the results of the AMF Garden City event please visit www.ligbtour.com. The LIGBT is sponsored by Turbo, WON Network and Randi B. Siegle Attorney at Law.
