Meadow, NY: The LIGBT’s Memorial Day Weekend Major at AMF E. Meadow was won by Ed Ziemak, Thiells, NY. Ed won his first LIGBT title by defeating JoJo Alcantara, Flushing, NY 268-261 in the final shootout. Ed earned $2,000 for his victory while JoJo won $1,000 as the runner-up. Finishing in third place with a 238 was Brandon Hutchinson, Middlesex, NJ earning $700. Rounding out the top 5 was fourth place finisher Michael Yu, Brooklyn, NY with a 234 worth $400 and 5th place finisher Guy Sereno, Massapequa, NY with a 192 worth $300.

The 5-person final shootout champion wasn’t decided until the final frame as Ed needed a strike to capture the title over JoJo. Ed threw a perfect “Ten in the Pit” strike to capture his first victory. Ed bowled like a champion as he threw 9 strikes to overcome the fact he received no handicap. JoJo, who was getting the most handicap, threw a clean game and had 7 strikes but just fell short of his first title. Brandon bowled great and hit the pocket every frame but a 4th frame open hurt his title chances. Michael also bowled a clean game but couldn’t string strikes and settled for fourth place. Guy, who represented the scratch division, couldn’t find a consistent line to the pocket.

The LIGBT Memorial Day Weekend Major drew 269 entries and paid out a $13,080 prize fund to 70 cashers. The side action awarded an additional $10,745 bringing the total event payout to $23,825. Scores to cash on the house shot varied by division. The scratch cuts ranged from 652-716. The 49 & under handicap cuts ranged from 655 to 733. The 50 & over handicap cuts were 676-712.
