Levittown, NY: The LIGBT ran its House Shot Series #7 at Levittown Lanes on Sunday and crowned 2 first time champions. The handicap champion, earning his first title and the $1,000 top prize, was Juan Torres, Brooklyn, NY and the scratch champion, winning his first title and the $500 top prize, was Jonathan Saloman, Seaford, NY.
The handicap shootout was exciting with everyone throwing strikes and filling frames. Juan came out strong striking in his first 5 out of 6 frames. Carmine Solomita, Port Washington, NY, threw 6 strikes in a row, after opening in the third frame, to come within 4 pins of Juan in the 8th frame. After Juan spared in the 10th Carmine needed to strike to win the championship but a stubborn 4 pin stopped him from winning his first title. The final score was 274-271 with Carmine earning $500 for 2nd place. Stephanie Pidala, Maspeth, NY finished in third place shooting a 269 worth $300. Rounding out the top 4 was Karen Carpinelli, Bayshore, NY with a 241 worth $250.
The scratch event was won by Jonthan Saloman with a 4-game total of 1091; an amazing 272 average earning him $500. Finishing in 2nd place, was Weldon Drayton Jr., Brentwood, NY shooting a 992 series worth $250. Rounding out the top 3 in the scratch event was Andrew Mienkiewicz, Dix Hills, NY with a 955 earning him $150. The scratch event drew 20 entries and paid out a 5-person prize list totaling $1,140.
LIGBT’s House Shot Series Event #7 drew a field of 73 entries, paid out $4,535 in prize money, and had 19 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $2,265 bringing the total day’s payout to $6,800. Scores to cash were 956 in the 49 & under handicap division, 959 in the senior handicap division, and 919 in the scratch event. Karen Carpinelli and Jonathan Saloman shot 300 games.
