RICH HENGEL WINS HANDICAP TITLE ROB MILLER TAKES SCRATCH TITLE

Meadow, NY: The LIGBT, ran its first House Shot Series event of Season 16 at AMF E. Meadow. The tournament used a 4-game format with the top 2 from each age handicap division advancing to a 4-person shootout. There was also a separate scratch competition. The handicap champion was Rich Hengel, East Meadow, NY earning $1,000. The scratch winner was Rob Miller, Manorville, NY earning $400.

The final handicap shootout featured 4 bowlers all looking for their first LIGBT title. Stephanie Pidala, Maspeth, NY was getting the most handicap and held the lead all the way to the final frame. But when she missed a 1-pin spare it opened the door for Rich to capture his first title. Rich converted a 2-pin spare in the final frame to win the $1,000 top prize 258-251. While Stephanie earned $500 for 2nd place, finishing in third with a 222 was Noel Dilbert, Huntington Station, NY worth $300. Rounding out the final 4 was Rob Miller, Manorville, NY with a 210 worth $250.

The scratch event was won by Rob Miller with a 4-game total of 997 worth $400. There was a tie for 2nd place with a 985 shot by Jose Perez, E. Elmhurst, NY and Tyger Folmar, Miramar, FL each earning $160. The scratch event generated 12 entries and paid out $720.

LIGBT’s House Shot Series Event #1 drew a field of 51 entries, paid out $3,440 in prize money, and had 14 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $1,460 bringing the total day’s payout to $4,900. Scores to cash were 963 in the 49 & under handicap division, 966 in the senior handicap division, and 885 in the scratch event.
