Babylon, NY: Senior bowler Ferrill McNeil, Bronx, NY turned a spot into the finals via the “desperado shootout” into his first LIGBT title worth $2,000. Ferrill shot a 241 handicap game in the final match to defeat four other shootout finalists. Finishing second was Tae Jun Kim, Woodside, NY, with a 228 worth $1,000. Rounding out the top 5 was third place finisher Kevin Miller, New York, NY, shooting a 216 worth $750, fourth went to 5-time LIGBT champion Dexter Sapp, Valley Stream, NY with a 207 earning him $500 and fifth place was taken by Enrique Sarmiento, Flushing, NY with a 200 worth $400. Except for Dexter all 4 shootout finalists were looking for their first LIGBT title.
The final 5 shootout was a fairly tight match as there were many lead changes with the winner not decided until the final frame. In the first 6 frames all 5 competitors had at least one open and only one bowler, TJ Kim, had a double. Despite the fact Ferrill was giving handicap to all 4 competitors, he won the title by throwing his last 6 out of 7 strikes. TJ had the lead late in the match but opened in 3 out of his last 5 frames.
