Levittown, NY: Daniel Goldberg, Douglaston, NY won his first LIGBT title by shooting the high 5-game handicap series at South Levittown Lanes during an LIGBT Marathon. Daniel shot a 1203 series to win by 3 pins over second place finisher Rich Frost, East Islip, NY. Daniel earned a total of $1,100 while Rich took home $700 for his runner-up position.
The South Levittown event was competed on Kegel’s “Middle of the Road” pattern which is 39 feet. Scoring was on the low side as it only took an 1108 handicap series to cash. This meant all bowlers that shot their club average cashed for a minimum of $100.
The 5-game marathon was a bonus event added by the LIGBT and did not appear on the Club’s schedule. A total of 41 bowlers enjoyed a $3,200 prize fund that paid 10 spots plus five $100 high game winners. The LIGBT returned 100% of the entry fee to the prize list except for lineage fees.
The LIGBT will be releasing its 2013 Fall Schedule soon. LIGBT’s next tournament is Sunday, September 22nd. This will be a regular 2-squad handicap singles event with top prizes guaranteed at $1,000 & $500. One in 5 each squad advances to the finals and will cash for at least $60.
