CASSANDRA LEUTHOLD WINS HER FIRST LIGBT TITLE
East Meadow, NY: Cassandra Leuthold, who resides in Rapid City, South Dakota, emerged victorious at AMF East Meadow and took home $1,000 plus the champion’s trophy. Casandra, who was in town to bowl the USBC Masters, make her side trip to Long Island worth her while. Cassandra earned her victory at a record 2-squad tournament where 181 bowlers competed.
The final shootout consisted of 5 bowlers. Cassandra shot a 244 handicap game which was 20 pins greater than second place finisher Ron Moskzow, Huntington Station, NY. Ron, who is bowling in pain with a bad hip, earned $600 with his 224 game. Finishing third with a 214 was Elizabeth John, Astoria, NY who earned $400. Fourth and fifth place went to a husband and wife; Don and Sondra Crummell of Freeport, NY. Don finished fourth with a 213 ($300) and Sondra finished fifth with a 205 worth $250.
The AMF East Meadow tournament was a huge success as 181 bowlers competed for over $6,500 in prize money. A total of 40 bowlers cashed in the big prize fund. The scores were low for as the US Open pattern was put down. The cut score in the 1pm squad was 663 and at 3pm it was 665. High handicap series of the day went to Kevin Smith, Woodmere, NY with a 758.
LIGBT’s next tournament is a 2-squad event at AMF Sayville on Sunday March 3rd. First squad begins at 1pm and top prizes are guaranteed to pay $1,000 & $500.
