Levittown, NY: Alex Padmore, Jamaica, NY, won his third LIGBT title and the $1,000 top prize at South Levittown Lanes. Alex (234) defeated Scott Gray (225 - $500), of East Meadow, NY, Justin Kampf (222 - $300 scholarship) from Levittown, NY and Eddie Cintron (212 - $250) of Laurelton, NY in the final shootout. A total of 119 bowlers competed at the South Levittown event.
Going into the final frame Alex and Scott were tied. Both rolled a strike on their first ball but Alex continued with another strike while Scott missed the head pin on his second ball in the tenth frame. Alex’s 170 scratch game was good enough to take home the top prize.
The South Levittown tournament used Kegel’s Broadway pattern which produced decent scoring throughout the day. The 1pm cut score was 698 and the 3pm cut was 690. The 1pm squad leader was Scott Gray, who earned 2 byes, with a 766 and the 3pm squad leader was Nabeel Ashfaq who shot a 755. The wildcard entry into the finals, which is the top 6 game series by a non-finalist went to Chris DiDamo, Glenwood Landing, NY with a 1340 series..
LIGBT’s next tournament is a special 3-squad tournament at AMF East Meadow on Sunday January 27th. First squad begins at noon and top prizes are guaranteed to pay $1,200 & $600.
