Champion Eddie Eng
October 21, 2012
Syosset, NY: Eddie Eng is the most prolific bowler in the LIGBT. He has bowled more qualifying games than anyone; 369 to be exact. He has competed in almost every LIGBT event and up until today he never won an LIGBT trophy. Well that is all history now as Eddie, who resides in Flushing, NY, won the AMF Syosset event and the $1,000 top prize.
You would think Ed would have been nervous bowling for his first title but he bowled like a champion throughout the final shootout. Ed finished with a 254 handicap game to win the title by 26 pins over second place finisher Ken Simpson, Shirley, NY. Ken earned $500 with his 228 game while Dexter Sapp, who bowled an LIGBT record 882 handicap qualifying series, finished third with a 209 worth $250.
The AMF LIGBT event was fairly high scoring as the cut scores were 718 and 711 respectively. A total of 22 bowlers made the finals and shared in a prize fund exceeding $3,500. A good fall crowd of 89 bowlers filled the center on a beautiful Sunday.
The next LIGBT event is Sunday, November 4th at AMF East Meadow. The top prizes will again be guaranteed to pay $1,000-1st and $500-2nd. There will be two squads offered; 1pm and 3pm. Entry fee is as low as $60 if prepaid and 1 in 5 each squad will advance to the finals. The LIGBT is sponsored by Brunswick, Randi Siegel Law Offices, CLS Custom Upholsterers, and Station Casinos.
