David Reed and Adam Chase AMF East Meadow Champions

Posted On: May 15, 2011

Champion Adam Chase

May 15, 2011

East Meadow, NY:  The LIGBT has been around for three years and although many different champions have been crowned there have been two bowlers that seem to find the winner’s circle most often. At AMF East Meadow David Reed, Shoreham, NY won his 5th handicap title and Adam Chase, Seaford, NY won his sixth scratch title. Both bowlers lead their divisions with the most titles

The East Meadow event used the PBA Chameleon Pattern which is one of the lowest scoring patterns the club uses. This may have scared some bowlers but those that competed enjoyed competitive scoring and low cuts. Leading the first squad was Adam Chase with a 656 series while the second squad leader was Jose Perez, East Elmhurst, NY with a 668.

The final shootout was a close one as Joe Scianna, Oakdale, NY needed a strike on his first ball in the tenth to win his first LIGBT event. Although Joe is known as one of the best action bowlers on Long Island he did not get the strike which gave Adam the victory 232-217. Adam earned $500 for his victory while Joe took home $250. Finishing third was Jose Perez who earned $100 with a 180 game.

The handicap tournament also saw some low scores but some bowlers did shot well. Leading the first squad was Maniram Basdeo, Bronx, NY who shot a 769 and was automatically seeded into the final shootout. Leading the second squad was Hee Jin Jun, Flushing , NY with a 778. It took a 713 to make the cut in the first squad and only 672 in the second squad.

The final shootout was exciting but David Reed had it locked up by the 9th frame and breezed to victory with a 220. David defeated second place finisher Maniram Basdeo 220 to 200. David earned $700 and a beautiful trophy while Maniram took home $350. Finishing third was Hee Jin Jun who earned $250 with a 197 and fourth went to Sal Maenza, Franklin Square, NY who earned $200 with a 191.

The next LIGBT’s tournament is a special two day tournament at AMF Babylon. This LIGBT Major will have a guaranteed top prize of $1,500 for both scratch and handicap. For complete results of the East Meadow tournament and details of our next event please visit www.ligbtour.com or call the tournament office at 1.877.900.6464.
