Syosset, NY: The Long Island Generations Bowling Tour (LIGBT) continued its amazing growth with an event at AMF Sheridan. A total of 115 bowlers, a sold out field, competed for over $8,000 in prizes. The winner of the scratch event was Alex Cavagnaro of Lindenhurst, NY earning $1,000 and the 205 & under champion was John Isopo of N. Babylon winning $500.

Alex, one of the great young bowlers on Long Island, averaged 240 in qualifying on the Chameleon PBA Pattern. Alex started off slow but finished with games of 258 and 279 to become the squad leader and seeded into the final shootout. Joining Alex as a seed in the final shootout was the top senior qualifier, Steve Sckalor of Massapequa, NY who lead all seniors with an 841 4-game series. The cut score to make the finals was 903 for the under division and 834 for the senior division.

For Alex to win the championship he had to defeat 3 other bowlers in a one game shootout. Alex did not allow the competition to even get into the match as he started out with the first 8 strikes on his way to a 279 game. Finishing second, with a 234 was the high senior bowler, Steve Sckalor who earned $600. Third place and earning $400 was Eric Cornog of Cherry Hill, NJ shooting a 211 and finishing fourth was the top female Julie Maritrano of New York City who took home $300 with a 190.

In the 205 & under tournament history was made as the LIGBT had its first repeat champion. John Isopo won his first LIGBT event at Bowl Long in February. His second victory did not come as easy as John opened his last 3 frames to squeeze out a victory over Puntep Bhayakaporn of NYC 230-227. The third bowler in the shootout was Diana Cardinali from Rocky Point, NY who rolled a very nice 214. Puntep earned $300 for his second place finish while Diana took home $200.

The next LIGBT event will be held at East Islip Lanes on Sunday, April 19th. This event, which should attract a very large entry count, will start at noon so the Sunday night leagues will not be interfered with. Details of the East Islip event will be announced shortly on www.ligbtour.com For additional LIGBT information please visit www.ligbtour.com or call our tournament hotline; 1.877.900.6464.
