The 2008-09 LIGBT schedule includes ten Sunday events each featuring separate scratch and handicap competitions. The LIGBT is being sponsored by Columbia 300 and kicks off Sunday, October 19th at AMF Babylon Bowl.
The LIGBT's mission is to run professionally run tournaments where entrants can also become better bowlers. Most events will feature a Demo Day, seminar, or product sampling from Tour sponsors. Several tournaments will provide free coaching and video lessons during the exclusive one-hour practice session prior to each event.
Each tournament will offer two separate competitions; a scratch tournament with 5 games of qualifying and 1 in 8 advancing to the match play finals. There will be two divisions for qualifying; 49 and under and 50+. A $1,000 top prize is guaranteed regardless of entries. Also guaranteed is $250 for all finalists (1 in 8) and $100 for all cashers (1 in 4). Entry fee for the scratch event is $100.
The second tournament, which will run concurrently with the scratch event, will be a handicap competition for bowlers averaging 205 and under. Qualifying will be 3 games with 1 in 8 advancing to the match play finals and guaranteed $125. Top prize will pay $500 with only 50 entries. Additional cashers will be created with the 1 in 4 cashing ratio. All handicaps will be based on 90% of 205. All bowlers not cashing will receive bonus pins at their next event. Entry fee for the handicap event is only $50.
The LIGBT is being run and promoted by Steve Sanders and Bob Olsen. Steve is president of Pinacle Events and well known for his national amateur and pro tournaments.
