Inaugural LIGBT Event This Sunday at AMF Babylon Bowl

Posted On: October 10, 2008

Six months of planning is about to become reality for the LIGBT as the first event will be this Sunday at AMF Babylon Bowl. A free 1 hour practice session begins at 11:45am (only for paid entries) and qualifying is scheduled for 1pm. With two tournaments running simultaneously (scratch and handicap) the LIGBT offers all types of tournament bowlers a chance to win money in a professionally run environment.

The reaction to the LIGBT announcement and website has been phenomenal. Hundreds of bowlers have visited www.ligbtour.com and the tournament hotline has been ringing off the hook. A good crowd is expected for the Babylon event which guarantees in the scratch event $1,000 and $500 for the top 2 prizes and $250 for all finalists. The 205 and under handicap tournament will pay $500 top prize with only 50 entries and guarantees $125 for all finalists regardless of entries.

The LIGBT has been working with Kegel and Babylon Bowl to put out a fair and playable shot for the event. Our goal is to create a scoring environment that is a little bit more challenging than the house shot but will still allow for multiple angles to the pocket. Kegel has suggested we use the house pattern but add a little oil on the outsides to lower the high scoring environment that currently exists. We believe the majority of bowlers will be pleased with the tournament shot.

The LIGBT is offering great membership rewards for bowlers; everyone gets an embroidered shirt with their basic $30 membership. If you want the latest Columbia 300 high-performance ball (THE MOMUMTUM SWING) all you have to do is purchase the upgraded membership for $110. The premium membership package also includes a triple roller bag for only $160. All membership rewards will be available at Babylon Bowl.

The LIGBT is trying to create a very special tournament club for local bowlers. As a member you will have access to special discounts, the chance to become a better bowler through on-site coaching and technology, and the opportunity to meet a variety of bowling reps throughout the year. The LIGBT dress code is very relaxed. Everything is acceptable except sweat pants, t-shirts, or gym shorts. Slacks or a collared shirt with your name is NOT REQUIRED!

We look forward to seeing you this Sunday at Babylon Bowl. To make your check-in experience go smoothly we suggest you complete the entry form before you arrive. Even better, you can prepay on-line by visiting www.ligbtour.com which allows you to go to the front of the line to pick your lanes.

See you this Sunday and don’t forget to arrive early and take advantage of the free practice session!
