MATT CUMMINGS WINS HANDICAP TITLE NICK FALSETTA TAKES SCRATCH TITLE

Wantagh, NY: The LIGBT ran House Shot Series #10 at AMF Wantagh on Sunday and crowned 2 young champions.  Matt Cummings, Middle Village, NY, just 17 years old, won his 1st title and took home the $1,000 top prize in the handicap event. Nick Falsetta, a 21-year-old right-hander from N. Babylon, NY, won the scratch title worth $500.

The handicap final shootout was very close as 3 pins separated the top 3 with just 3 frames to go. Matt, who shot the high handicap qualifying series of the day with a 1,032, threw 5 strikes in a row in his last 3 frames to lock up his first title with a fine 269. Finishing in 2nd place was Michael Dixon, W. Islip, NY with a 237 worth $550. The third spot was taken by senior Eddie Cintron, Laurelton, NY with a 235 worth $350. Rounding out the top 4 was senior bowler Maggie Joseph, Bay Shore, NY with a 218 worth $250.   

Nick won the scratch event by shooting a 4-game total of 958. Finishing in 2nd place was Chris Modugno, Smithtown, NY with an 896 worth $250. Rounding out the top 3 in scratch was Weldon Drayton Jr., Brentwood, NY with an 890 earning him a $150. The scratch event drew 20 entries and paid out a 5-person prize list totaling $1,150.  

LIGBT’s House Shot Series Event #10 drew a field of 82 entries, paid out $4,885 in prize money, and had 20 bowlers go to the cashing window. The side action paid out an additional $2,630 bringing the day’s payout to $7,515. Scores to cash were 911 in the 49 & under handicap division, 897 in the senior handicap division, and 873 in the scratch event.

LIGBT’s next tournament is a handicap doubles event at AMF E. Meadow; Sunday, July 28th (1pm start.)
