LEON KESSEE WINS $2,000

AT HOUSE SHOT MAJOR

Congratulations to Leon Kessee for winning your first LIGBT title, and the $2,000 top prize, at this weekend’s House Shot Major hosted by AMF Garden City. Leon defeated Azeem Austin, who was also looking for his first LIGBT title, 238-228 in a very exciting final shootout. Azeem earned $1,000 for his runner-up position. Finishing in third was 16-year old Mithrandir Loutan with a 222 earning a $500 SMART scholarship. Johnny Cummings, who made the final shootout from both the senior handicap and scratch divisions, earned a total of $700 with a 216 finishing in 4th and 5th place. Rob Miller finished in 6th place with a 212 earning $300.

The House Shot Major drew a nice field of 209 entries and cashed 57 bowlers in the $11,710 prize fund. The side action added $4,560 for a total payout of $16,270. Cut scores were normal ranging from a low of 669 and a high of 726. Mark Ferrara shot the high series of the event 813 (798 scratch.) Peter Bishop and Robert Smith were the raffle winners of the Brunswick ball and Turbo Triple tote roller.

Thanks to everyone that participated at AMF Garden City and congratulations to all of the cashers. The LIGBT welcomed 7 new members this weekend. The LIGBT returns on Sunday, March 16th for a Handicap Doubles event at AMF E. Meadow. Enjoy the next few weeks and we look forward to seeing you soon at an LIGBT tournament.
