JIM LENIHAN'S 1^st TITLE

IS WORTH $2,000!

 

Season 18 has come to a successful close as we crowned another first-time champion! Congratulations to Jim Lenihan, Baldwin, NY for winning the Labor Day Major at AMF E. Meadow. Jim, who advanced from the senior division, defeated 2nd place finisher Joe Scianna, from the scratch division, 250-245 in a very relaxed and fun shootout. Jim earned $2,000 for his first title while Joe took home $1,200 for 2nd. Finishing in 3rd was Ricky Santiago, Bridgeport, CT with a 238 worth $700. Rounding out the top 5 was 4th place finisher Tyisha Hawkins, Roosvelt, NY with a 236 earning $600 and 5th place finisher Jose Zambrano, Jackson Heights earning $500 with a 199.

 

Scoring on the AMF E. Meadow house shot was good with Joe Granata shooting the highest handicap series with an 833. Scores to cash were 623-717 in the scratch division, 674-718 in the 50 & over handicap division, and 707-751 in the 49 & under handicap division. There were no 300 games bowled in the 5 squads. 

 

The Holiday Major was an incredible event as 286 bowlers competed for a $17,500 prize fund. A total of 80 bowlers visited the cashing window. With side action total payout for the weekend was $25,150. Brunswick ball winners were Diane Fuller and Denis Jackson. The LIGBT welcomed 8 new members to the club this weekend.

 

Congratulations to all of the finalists and thanks to everyone that bowled at AMF E. Meadow this weekend. Good luck in the upcoming league season. Wishing you all "Ten in the Pit!"
