TAKE TOP 2 SPOTS ON NYD

 

New Year’s Day at AMF E. Meadow was very special for 2 new LIGBT members. Gary Kurensky (scratch division) defeated Peter Kelton (50+ handicap division) 245-238 in a great final shootout. Gary earned $1,200 for his 1st title while Pete took home $800 for 2nd place. Finishing in 3rd was senior handicap bowler Rich Martinez with a 218 worth $600. Fourth place went to 49 & under handicap competitor Greg Edwards with a 209 earning him $400. Rounding out the last 2 spots was Ed Ziemak, representing both the scratch and 49 & under handicap divisions, shooting a 196 and earning a total of $650.

 

The NYD event drew a record crowd of 190 entries and paid out a $9,155 prize fund to 51 cashers. The side action added another $4,280 bringing the NYD total payout to $13,435. Cut scores on the house shot ranged from 698-727 in scratch, 689-718 in 49 & under handicap, and 700-709 in the senior handicap division.

 

Congratulations to all of the cashers and thanks to everyone that participated at AMF E. Meadow. The LIGBT welcomed 11 new members on NYD. Special thanks to all of the youth bowlers that competed with many cashing for SMART scholarships. LIGBT’s next event is a 2-squad sport shot tournament on Sunday, January 19th at AMF Garden City.
